Very large early Victorian antique oil painting portrait of a minister gentleman. English School, circa 1840-80. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt frame. Depicts a gentleman in formal attire - possibly a minister. Size of frame: 37 x 32.5 inches; Size of canvas: 30 x 25 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 29.5 x 24.5 inches. Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks and scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame. Best described as faded grandeur or shabby chic.
