Small antique watercolour painting Bible illustration of King Ahasuerus or Xerxes in carved oak frame. English, circa 1930s. This is an original watercolour work, not a print. Carved wooden frame. Artist unknown but comes from a collection of similar Bible illustrations but unsure of their origin. This is one of a series of similar illustrations by the artist. Nicely executed. It depicts a King, believed to be Ahasuerus (or his other name, Xerxes) in Shushan the Palace in Persia. We sold a similar themed painting a while ago with Queen Esther from the same series. Size of frame: 7.75 x 6.25 inches. Size of front aperture of painting: 5 x 3.75 inches. Weight: 250g (allow 750g once packed). Condition commensurate with age - the wooden frame has some knocks and pieces missing but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This is a genuine antique original and authentic work of art which I have had remounted in a period frame. All the paintings I offer are unique and period. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed.
