Small antique oil painting portrait study of an interior domestic family scene - mother changing baby with gentleman onlooker. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on oak handcut panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 11 x 9.5 inches; Size of panel: 8.25 x 6.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 8 x 6.25 inches. Weight: 463g (allow 2 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
