Small antique oil painting portrait of young girl in straw hat bonnet. English School, circa 1840-80. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Glazed. Depicts a young girl with ringlets hair and straw hat bonnet with blue scarf. Provenance of sitter on reverse: "LMB Aged 14 years". Size of frame: 9.5 x 8 inches; Size of portrait: 6.5 x 5.25 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 6 x 4.75 inches. Weight: 483g (allow 2 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Apologies for glass reflection in photos.
