Small antique coastal landscape oil painting of castle on island. English School, possibly Italian (painted on the Grand Tour). Has a definite Continental feel about it. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on panel. Distressed gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 11 x 8 inches. Size of painting: 7.75 x 4.75 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 7 x 4 inches. Weight: 630g (allow 2 kg once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur.
