Pair of antique early Victorian beaded brass firescreens fire screens

£125.00
Pair of antique early Victorian beaded brass firescreens fire screens. English, Victorian, circa 1860. Brass stems, frames with finials, ceramic handles; screens have beaded cross stitch decoration and cotton backing. Used by society ladies to protect their complexion from the heat of the hearth. Size: Frame: height: 19.5 inches; width of brass rods: 9.5 inches; Textile screens: 7.5 x 7 inches. Combined weight: 454g (allow 3 kg once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age and use - quite a lot of wear - some beading is missing, tatty edges, cotton backing is stained and would have originally had tassells which are now missing. The ceramic handles also have cracks. So, far from perfect but all part of their charm and character. Priced accordingly. Sold as seen. Best described as faded grandeur or shabby chic. Suitable for display only.
