Large Dutch/Flemish antique oil painting portrait of a distinguished gentleman in ruffle collar. Continental School, Dutch or Flemish, circa 1750-1800. Unsigned, artist unknown. Some provenance on reverse - labels reads "Lent by Lucy Carrington". There is also a Rosebery's auction label. Oil on canvas. Gilt frame (later). Size of frame: 32.5 x 27.5 inches; Size of canvas: 30 x 24.75 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 29 x 24 inches. Weight: 3.17 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some flaking and missing paintwork on ruffle collar as shown but all part of its charm and character. As mentioned, there are areas where the antique paintwork has started to flake off from the canvas. Whilst every care will be taken with packing, I cannot guarantee that more flaking will occur in transit so please be aware of this before buying (and any such risk will be on the buyer).
