Large antique Victorian signed still life oil painting study of sportsmans game

Large antique Victorian signed still life oil painting study of sportsmans game. British School (possibly Scottish), circa 1840-80. Signed by the artist bottom lefthand side but signature is tricky to decipher. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a hare and grouse - snipe, partridge, woodcock and ptarmigan (in summer plumage). Size of frame: 36.5 x 31.5 inches; Size of canvas: 30 x 25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 29.5 x 24.5 inches. Weight: 5.7 kg (allow up to 25 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, one small area of damage to the canvas on righthand side and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. A real country house piece. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned. Please note this is a large and delicate painting and collection from London SE4 is recommended.
