Large antique Victorian oil painting study of terrier dogs overturning a cauldron over a stove signed Edward Armfield. English, circa 1880. Signed by the artist, Edward Armfield (British, 1817-1896) Oil on canvas, laid on board. Gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 27 x 25 inches; Size of canvas: 20.5 x 18.75 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 20 x 18 inches. Weight: 3.6 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This is a genuine antique original and authentic work of art which I have had remounted in a period frame. All the paintings I offer are unique and period. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed. Frame is tatty and best described as faded grandeur or shabby chic.
