Large antique Victorian oil painting study of a mastiff dog. English, circa 1880-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas, laid on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 26.5 x 22.5 inches; Size of canvas: 19.5 x 15 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 14.5 x 18.5 inches. Weight: 5.1 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Frame is tatty and best described as faded grandeur or shabby chic.
