Large antique Victorian oil painting portrait study of terrier dog and pups catching a rat (2 of 2). English School, circa 1870-90. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 30.5 x 26.75 inches; Size of canvas: 24.25 x 20 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 23 x 19 inches. Weight: 3.8 kg (allow 10-15 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, lots of damage to canvas with numerous repairs to reverse and some knocks to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying - see video. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
