Large antique Victorian oil painting portrait study of peasant country girl holding staff. English School, circa 1860-80. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 25.25 x 21.25 inches. Size of canvas: 16 x 12 inches. Size of front portrait aperture: 15.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 6.2 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
