Large antique Victorian oil painting portrait study of lady in woods, holding a sheaf of corn and bag. English School, circa 1850-1900. Painted in the Romantic style. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Size: 23.75 x 19.75 inches; Weight: 954g (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of craquelure, a small hole (when held up to the light), blistering to varnish and lots of areas of damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
