Large antique Pre-Raphaelite oil painting portrait of Moses on Mount Nebo. English School, circa 1890-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a Biblical scene from the Old Testament - Moses viewing the Promised Land from Mount Nebo. Gallery catalogue numbers on reverse. Size of frame: 36.75 x 29 inches; Size of canvas: 30.25 x 22 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 29 x 21.5 inches. Weight: 6.5 kg (allow up to 15 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some paint staining at top of canvas, craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing from frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
