Large antique oil painting study of terrier dogs hunting. English, circa 1860-80. Signed with artist's monogram EA - possibly Edward Armfield (British, 1817-1896) but can't be absolutely sure. Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame (more modern). Size of frame: 24 x 20.5 inches; Size of painting: 15 x 11 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 14 x 10.25 inches. Weight: 5.2 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some minor knocks to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
