Large antique Georgian oil painting study of pig and fox. English School, circa 1800-40. Unsigned, artist unknown. Depicts an aggressive pig confronting a thieving fox. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 28 x 24.5 inches; Size of canvas: 18 x 14 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 17.5 x 13.5 inches. Weight: 7.3 kg (allow up to 15 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, lots of areas of damage to canvas with several large and smaller repairs to reverse and some cracks, knocks and repairs to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
