Large antique French velvet ornate dome base gilt jewellery display stand plateau. French, circa 1890-1900. Solid piece of wood with ornate decorative trim, faded red velvet top and gesso feet. Size: length: 20 inches; depth: 6 inches; height 2.5 inches. Weight: 818g (allow up to 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - fading and some wear to velvet, lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso edge and feet but it still stands firm - all part of its shabby chic charm and character. A beautiful thing - faded grandeur. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
