Large antique French signed river landscape painting with weir dated 1895. French, dated 1895. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a river landscape with weir. Size of frame: 24.5 x 20.5 inches; Size of canvas: 19.25 x 15.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 19.25 x 15 inches. Weight: 2.9 kg (allow up to 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse and some minor knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
