Large antique French oil painting of cows. French School, circa 1880-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 25.25 x 23 inches; Size of canvas: 18 x 14 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 16.5 x 13 inches. Weight: 4.2 kg (allow up to 15 kg volumetric weight once packed). Distressed condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
