Large antique Dutch oil painting study of destitute mother and baby signed J Schaftingen

Antique oil painting study of destitute mother with baby in basket signed J Schaftingen (but tricky to decipher). Dutch, circa 1920s. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame (distressed). Signed by the artist which I think is J Schaftingen but can't be absolutely sure as signature is partially obscured. Size of frame: 28.25 x 24.5 inches; Size of canvas: 23.5 x 18.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 22 x 18.5 inches. Weight: 4.8 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
