Large antique African heavy bronze manilla bracelet from the Congo

£195.00
Large antique African heavy bronze manilla bracelet from the Congo. Circa 1800 or earlier. Sourced from a French colony, thought to be from The Congo, Central Africa. Originally these were used as money and for trading in African slaves. Shocking to think that people would buy and sell other people. A relic of bygone darker days. This is a particularly interesting example - larger than usual and much heavier. Size: width: 4 inches; size of opening: 1.75 inch; thickness: 0.5 inch. Weight: 456g (allow up to 1 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Historical artefact.
