Heavy antique Continental oil painting portrait study of mother, child and baby. Continental School, possibly Italian. Circa 1880-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a mother holding baby with child standing behind. Size of frame: 23.5 x 19.5 inches; Size of canvas: 16 x 12 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 15.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 5.1 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some craquelure but all part of its charm and character. Please note that the canvas has been relined onto a new canvas backing at some point in its life. The frame is also very heavy. Priced accordingly.
