Antique Welsh coastal landscape oil painting with cottage at Colwyn Bay Wales signed WE Ellis. British, Welsh, circa 1880-90. Signed by the artist, William Edwin Ellis (British, Welsh, 1841-1894). Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a Welsh coastal landscape with beach, cottage, figures and sailing boats - at Colwyn Bay in North Wales. Size of frame: 22.5 x 19 inches; Size of canvas: 20 x 14 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.5 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 3.4 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
