Antique Victorian river landscape oil painting late Autumn scene signed WA Smith. English, dated 1890. Signed by the artist, WA Smith of Norwich. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a river landscape. Some provenance on label on reverse but hard to decipher: "Late Autumn on the ......." (presumably the name of the river). Size of frame: 25 x 18 inches; Size of canvas: 17 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 16.5 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 3.3 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, significant craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
