Antique Victorian oil painting study of children perturbed by a bee (2 of 2). English School, circa 1840-1880. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Distressed gilt gesso frame. Depicts a couple of children perturbed by a bee. Size of frame: 20.25 x 18 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 14 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 2.4 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, minor craquelure and significant damage and loss of plaster to gesso frame but all part of its harm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
