Antique Victorian oil painting study of a street scene. English School, circa 1870-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a street scene with gentlemen helping a lady in bonnet. Size of frame: 23.5 x 19 inches; Size of canvas: 18.25 x 14.25 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 17 x 13 inches. Weight: 2.6 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing from plaster gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
