Antique Victorian oil painting study of a mariner and boys. English School circa 1880. Unsigned, artist unknown, but has monogram BC in the corner. Oil on canvas. Carved gilt frame. Depicts a mariner telling tales of the sea to two young boys from an aristocratic family. Size of frame: 20 x 16 inches. Size of canvas: 17 x 13 inches. Size of front painting aperture: 16.75 x 12.75 inches. Weight: 1.5 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gilt frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic.
