Antique Victorian oil painting portrait study of a peasant girl with sheaves of corn. English School, circa 1890-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a peasant girl in hat and apron with sheaves of corn. Size of frame: 23 x 17.5 inches; Size of canvas: 16 x 10 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 15.5 x 9.5 inches. Weight: 2.5 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some minor knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The frame is not original to the work although the painting has been reframed in an ornate period frame. Priced accordingly.
