Antique Victorian oil painting portrait study of a barrister in silks and wig. English School, circa 1900-10. Unsigned, artist unknown. Depicts a gentleman barrister in a black suit with silks and wig. Oil on board. Gilt frame with gesso decoration. Size of frame: 16.5 x 14.5 inches; Size of portrait: 14.75 x 12.5 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 11.5 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 800g (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso decoration but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
