Antique Victorian oil painting portrait of senior lady in white bonnet. English School, circa 1880. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Ornate gilt gesso frame. Nicely painted portrait of a matriarchal older lady. Reminiscent of a character from a Jane Austen novel. Size of frame: 24.5 x 20.5 inches. Size of canvas: 18 x 14 inches. Weight: 3.7 kg (allow 9.5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some damage to paintwork (on her face and in other areas). There are also some knocks to and pieces missing from the gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
