Antique Victorian oil painting portrait of physician in surgery treating boy After Sir David Wilkie. English School, circa 1860-80. Unsigned, artist unknown, but thought to be After Sir David Wilkie. Depicts a physician in his surgery treating a young boy with mother and sister in attendance. Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 20.5 x 18 inches; Size of panel: 14.25 x 12 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 13.5 x 11.25 inches. Weight: 2.6 kg (allow 7 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some craquelure but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
