Antique Victorian oil painting of farm boy with animals. English, dated 1884. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a farm boy taking a nap with cows, sheep, horse and goat present - a bucolic scene. Size of frame: 25.5 x 21 inches; Size of canvas: 18 x 13.5 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 17.5 x 13 inches. Weight: 2.7 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse and some minor knocks and cracks to frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
