Antique Victorian oil painting in gilt frame. Depicting a lady in traditional country wear and a child. English School, circa 1880. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on board Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a lady in traditional dress holding a hay rake, with a child leaning over a stile - the child's face is obliterated. Size of frame: 16 x 13 inches. Size of painting: 9.75 x 6.75 inches. Weight: 1.5 kg (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, some knocks to gesso frame, the child's face is obliterated and the frame has been re-painted at some point but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
