Antique Victorian landscape oil painting of Scottish loch with cows by John Ritchie. Scottish, circa 1890. Signed with artist's monogram, JR, but there is a label on the reverse with the artist's name - John Ritchie (British, 1828-1905). Oil on board. Distressed gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 14.25 x 11.5 inches. Size of painting: 11.5 x 8.75 inches. Size of front painting aperture: 9.5 x 6.5 inches. Weight: 900g (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
