Antique Victorian landscape oil painting of lake and mountains. English School, circa 1890-1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts lake and mountains. Slightly Impressionist in style. Subtle hues. Size of frame: 20 x 16 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 13.25 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 1.8 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, an area of damage in the centre visible from front, with a repair to reverse, and various cracks, knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur. Nevertheless, a lovely painting. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
