Antique Victorian copper saucepan with lid by Merridale Works, Wolverhampton. English, circa 1890. Copper with wrought iron handles. Maker's stamp on base of pan - Merridale Works, Wolverhampton. Lid is non-matching but fits well and is marked "FW" and "Harrods Ld". Size: Diameter: 9 inches; Depth: 4.25 inches; Gauge/thickness: 1 mm. Weight: 2.2 kg (allow up to 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - various superficial marks and scratches and rim is slightly misshapen but lid fits fine. Original interior has some slight corrosion but all part of its charm and character and fine for us once cleaned up. Priced accordingly. Copper is the first choice of all top chefs because of its ability to conduct heat quickly and evenly.
