Antique very distressed river landscape oil painting. English School, circa 1900. Unsigned, artist unknown. Oil on canvas. Distressed elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a river landscape with mountains in the background. Size of frame: 24.5 x 19.5 inches; Size of canvas: 20 x 15 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 19.5 x 14.5 inches. Weight: 2.9 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Distressed, very tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, significant damage to canvas with lots of flaking paint and paint loss and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. As mentioned, there are areas where the antique paintwork has started to flake off from the canvas. Whilst every care will be taken with packing, I cannot guarantee that more flaking will occur in transit so please be aware of this before buying (and any such risk will be on the buyer. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
