Antique Treenware turned fruit bowl with silver plated plaque dated 1943
£125.00
Antique Treenware turned fruit bowl with silver plated plaque dated 1943. English, dated 24 March 1943. WW2 period. Wooden bowl with silver plated rim and presentation plaque which reads as follows: "To Mr DC Jakeman, from Engineering Dept, Doulton & Co, 24 March 2943". This belonged to a relative of mine from the West Midlands who worked at Doulton & Co in 1943. His name was Daniel Charles Jakeman and he and his wife Sarah (Sally) adopted my grandmother. They hail from Dudley and then moved out to a South Shropshire village where I grew up. They were Christadelphians. It pains me to part with it but I didn't actually know Uncle Charlie (as he was called) but I am told he was an extraordinarily kind gentleman. This came from my parents house when it was cleared recently - a little bit of family history. Size: Diameter: 9 inches; Height: 84 inches. Weight: 816g (with plastic grapes, 1.27 kg (optional) - thrown in (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Reasonable condition for its age - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character.
