Antique still life painting study of fruit and nuts. English School, circa 1900-20. Oil on canvas. Size: 16 x 12 inches. Weight: 396g (allow 3 kg volumetric weight once packed). Depicts fruit - apples, bananas and grapes - and nuts, against a forest background. A Primitive study. Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with several crude repairs to reverse and some minor restoration but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. This painting is quite sombre and melancholy and, although photographed in daylight, please understand that it is quite dark in reality.
