Antique still life oil painting study of game attributed to Benjamin Blake dated 1809. English, dated 1809. Unsigned but attributed to Benjamin Blake. Oil on canvas - relined onto new canvas backing. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts hare and game birds - pheasants and partridge. Size of frame: 17.75 x 15.5 inches; Size of canvas: 12 x 10.25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11.25 x 9 inches. Weight: 2.3 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to gesso frame ie some knocks to and pieces missing and a repair but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly.
