Antique Spanish oil painting study of soldiers cavaliers playing cards on a drum by Marcillo de Torres. Spanish, circa 1880-1900. Unsigned but the name of the artist is on the frame: "Torres de Marcillo" ie Marcillo de Torres (Spanish). Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 16.5 x 14.75 inches; Size of panel: 9.5 x 6.25 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 8 x 6.25 inches. Weight: 1.88 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to the gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Note; This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
