Antique Sikes's hydrometer. English, circa 1910. Maker's ivorine plaque on lid which reads: "Sikes' Hydrometer, Hatton Garden, London". An instrument for measuring the density of liquids. Adjustable weights, silk interior, brass floating hydrometer and sliding ruler and original thermometer marked "33 Hatton Garden, London" (broken). Size of box: 8 x 3.75 x 2 inches. Weight: allow 1 kg once packed). Condition commensurate with age and use - various superficial marks & scratches, silk lining is tatty, the weights are incomplete and please note the thermometer is broken. Ideal display item. Priced accordingly.
