Antique signed landscape oil painting of Italian lake scene with villa dated 1885. European, Italian. Dated 1885. Signed by the artist (looks like B Chiorriti but can't be sure). Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a villa (or possibly a church) on the hillside above a lake with mountains in the background. Size of frame: 23.25 x 19.25 inches. Size of canvas: 17 x 13 inches. Size of front painting aperture: 16.75 x 12.5 inches. Weight: 3.2 kg (allow 7.5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various marks & scratches, small area of damage to canvas with a small repair to reverse, lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly.
