Antique signed Impressionist landscape oil painting of sheaves of corn with ruined castle. English School, circa 1930s. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on board. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a castle on hillside in the background and sheaves of corn in the foreground. Size of frame: 16.25 x 12 inches. Size of painting: 15 x 11 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 14.5 x 10.5 inches. Weight: 553g (allow 4 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and lots of pieces missing from gesso frame (mainly at corners) but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. Please satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged.
