Antique signed French still life oil painting study of game birds
£395.00
Antique signed French still life oil painting study of game birds. French, circa 1890-1900. Signed by the artist but tricky to decipher signature. Oil on canvas. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a pheasant and a couple of other game birds. Size of frame: 27 x 21.5 inches; Size of canvas: 21.5 x 17 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 21.5 x 16 inches. Weight: 2.4 kg (allow 8 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, quite distressed, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, lots of craquelure and flaking, several large repairs to canvas and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic. As mentioned, there are areas where the antique paintwork has started to flake off from the canvas. Whilst every care will be taken with packing, I cannot guarantee that more flaking will occur in transit so please be aware of this before buying (and any such risk will be on the buyer). This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
