Antique signed French oil painting coastal landscape of Nice, France dated 1801. French, dated 1801. Signed by the artist: "William ......." but hard to decipher signature. Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts Nice in France. Size of frame: 17.5 x 15.5 inches. Size of painting: 12.25 x 10.5 inches. Size of front painting aperture: 11.75 x 9.75 inches. Weight: 1.8 kg (allow 7.5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from the gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur. This is a genuine antique original and authentic work of art which I have had remounted in a period frame. All the paintings I offer are unique and period. Just for the sake of clarity, please note that this painting is not glazed. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the item cannot be returned for this reason.
