Antique signed Belgian Flemish oil painting portrait of elderly man and his dog. Continental - Belgian or Flemish, circa 1890. Signed by the artist but difficult to decipher signature. Oil on canvas. Very distressed gilt gesso frame - extremely fragile with lots (if not most) of the gesso missing. Size of frame: 28 x 20.75 inches; Size of canvas: 21.5 x 14 inches; Size of front portrait aperture: 20.5 x 13.5 inches. Weight: 3.5 kg (allow 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches lots of knocks to and most pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. Collection preferred from London SE4 as the frame is VERY fragile. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned. Best described as shabby chic or faded grandeur.
