Antique coastal oil painting study of fishwives on quay signed R Douglas. Scottish, circa 1890. Signed by the artist. Oil on canvas. Elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts fishwives and child on the quay. Size of frame: 20 x 16 inches; Size of canvas: 16 x 12 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 15.5 x 11.5 inches. Weight: 1.39 kg (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame, particularly a section of gesso at bottom, but all part of its charm and character. Please note original canvas has been relaid onto new canvas backing and restored at some point in its life. The antique wood of this item has had a minor woodworm infestation at some point in its long life. However, this has now been specially treated to eradicate. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier.
