£750.00
Antique river landscape oil painting study of dogs hunting an otter by G Armfield. English, circa 1870-90. Signed by the artist, George Armfield (British, 1808-1893). Oil on canvas. Distressed elaborate gilt gesso frame. Size of frame: 26 x 17.75 inches; Size of canvas: 18 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 17.5 x 9.25 inches. Weight: 3.7 kg (allow up to 10 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, lots of damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse, and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying - thanks. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned. Collection is recommended from Brockley, London SE4.
