Antique river landscape oil painting signed WC 1880. English School, dated 80 (1880). Signed with artist's monogram. Provenance on reverse "Sketch on the ....... North Dales" so possibly a river in the North Dales, Yorkshire, England. Oil on board. Gilt gesso frame. Depicts a river scene with mountains in background. Size of frame: 16.5 x 12.5 inches; Size of canvas: 14 x 10 inches; Size of front painting aperture: 11.5 x 7.5 inches. Weight: 835g (allow 5 kg volumetric weight once packed). Tatty condition, commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame (ie gilt and gesso missing at each corner, but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Best described as shabby chic.
